Position Opportunity - Material Handler - NIGHT SHIFT (11:30pm -6:30am)

Established in 1971 and headquartered in Langley, British Columbia, Primex Manufacturing Ltd. (Primex) is a molder of plastic injection products. From its roots as a small custom injection molder and through the combination of Primex’s predecessor companies, Vanguard Plastics, Premo Plastics and VPL Enterprises Ltd., Primex has developed broad capabilities in the design, engineering and mold fabrication of a number of proprietary, patented in-house plastic products.

Primex is searching for a Material Handler to work in our Plastic Inject Molding Manufacturing Plant. This role requires shift work between primarily on the NIGHT SHIFT (11:30pm-6:30am). This role pays $15.28 per hour to start and receives a 10% night shift premium AFTER probation, the rate of pay increases to $15.58. **Initial on the job training will happen on the Day Shift (6am-2:30pm) or the Afternoon Shift (2:30pm-11pm)**

Objective:                  

  • Participate with a positive attitude while working with fellow team members to ensure plant orderliness, cleanliness and safety.
  • Ensure all resins and dyes mixed or handled are the correct part number and or product for the desired application.
  • Practice safe and careful handling habits of all plant tools and equipment, for example, loaders, dryers, mixers, grinders, small hand tools, etc; and always ensuring to return item to it’s proper place.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Listen and follow the direction of the plant supervisors.
  • Practice safe and careful handling habits of all plant tools and equipment, for example, loaders, dryers, mixers, grinders, small hand tools, etc; and always ensuring to return item to it’s proper place.
  • Notify maintenance of any worn or broken equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of all resins, dyes and additives whether just received in-house or drained from a hopper.  Always ensuring to indicate dye with UV if applicable and percentage mixed at.
  • Follow work order instructions carefully as to proper part numbers, quantities and percentages required in bill of materials for each job.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of data on all material sheets and promptly forward on.
  • If ever a mistake is made in the mixing or at distribution of any resin or regrind, it is immediately reported to your supervisor, preventing further waste.

Quantity of Work:

  • Ensure materials are available and ready in order to reduce start up time
  • Frequently do grinder checks to ensure proper granulating function and empty when needed.
  • Frequently do hopper checks to ensure machines do not run out of resin prior to job finishing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically fit.
  • Lifting materials (up to 25 kg). 15 times in 8 hrs aprox.
  • Standing and walking for up to 2 hrs at a time.
  • Pulling pallet jacks
  • General labor as assembler at machines 30 minutes a day. Use of air screw driver is required.

Education Requirements:

  • Good reading and writing skills essential.
  • Good communication skills essential.
  • Good mathematical skills essential
  • Previous forklift experience desirable.
